I played it something like a decade or two ago. I loved the game, but it was hard to find people to play with, and, honestly, the game played best with a full five people, and a WHOLE lot of time set aside.

At the moment, I'm more partial to the new revision of Risk, as it only requires 3-5 players, and on average lasts 1 1/2 hours.

Still, a fully loaded A&A game would be awesome.

My LOTR risk game kicks ass. But I doubt it's playable anymore. My boys found it when they were 8 & 9....not too many pieces left.

Axis & Alllies....oh the memories. My dad got that for us probably about 18 or 19 years ago. I opened it with delight....then saw the instruction manual. Closed it and never looked at it again. I bet it's still in pristine condition.

I'd be interested in acquiring that copy if you think you've still got it kicking around, Krith.

Well there is a revised edition of A&A that came out a year or two ago. It addresses a ton issues with the original game (more zones/territories, clearer rules, etc.), as well as adds a few new rules, and a couple new units.

Overall revised edition compared to the original is tons of awesome ! However as noted there are only a few people I know who are interested in playing. So I'd be happy to play this some night.

A game takes about 2-3 hours to hit a clear point where you know where the game is going / who's winning. Thats with a casual rate of play chit chat etc.

An option for those that might be interested in trying it :
- At sourceforge there is a game called TripleA which is basically a java version of the game. The revised scenario is the EXACT boardgame. Can be played online as well. Saved anytime. Take a break, pick it back up when ready etc. Or just played along over the course of the day in the background with friends. Anyways its excellent and I'd give a go with anyone who'd be interested. And of course its a great way to get an idea of what the game is like, and/or how the new revised edition is different from the orignal game (theres a scenario for that too, as well as a few others).

Of course imo the best experience is at the table with people, but TripleA is good.

Actually i'm up in the tonawanda area, just north a bit of the Blvd Mall. I havent been down to fredonia in ages now (used to live in the southtowns so i was all over the area for years).

I do have folks come over occassionally and we'll crack out the boardgames etc. I can give you a holler if you'd like to make the trip.

I also have a shiny copy of the new Talisman and expansions we like to play too.
